The School

Lakeside Academy, founded in 2001 through the merger of Bishop Whelan and Lachine High School, serves a culturally diverse community. Embracing the International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy, the school promotes critical thinking and global awareness in all programs. Lakeside continuously innovates, integrating Robotics and Indigenous cultural exploration into its curriculum. With a strong focus on respect, responsibility, and student success, Lakeside Academy nurtures individuals who take pride in their education and future.

Lakeside Academy offers a range of academic programs to suit diverse student needs:



  • International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP): A school-wide program fostering global perspectives and critical thinking.

  • IB Enriched Program: Advanced Ministry subjects with enriched French and Spanish for Secondary I to III students.

  • IB English Program: All courses in English, with French taught at the base level.

  • Media Communication Arts Program: Focuses on graphic arts, web design, print/audio production, and video production.
